3 women over 40 told us the savey beauty products they can’t live without.

Priceline Pharmacy
Thanks to our brand partner, Priceline Pharmacy

You know I really love looking after my skin. I love beauty products and makeup, and could spend hours reading about ingredients.

I also live about 5 minutes from my local Priceline Pharmacy where the staff know me well. They quite often find me wandering the aisles reading about ingredients and testing products out. I am a frequent visitor (like multiple times a week) because gone are the days where savey beauty products equate to a dip in quality. You’ll find pharmacy products perform as well, if not better, and often become the viral dupe to their spendy counterparts.

I also feel as though the brands and products I can find at Priceline are more diverse and not pigeonholed for my age bracket: just plenty of options for embracing your skin, no matter your age.

I wanted to share some of my current favourite holy grails and rub shoulders alongside Holly Wainwright and Cathrine Mahoney as they share their recommendations, too.

Models Prefer Liquid Blush Heat in Fruity, $16.

Image: Supplied.

Liquid Blush is having a moment and if you have a more mature or dry skin type, then this product is for you. The Models Prefer Liquid Blush Heat in Fruity is very pigmented, so you need only a couple of small dots on your cheeks to be left with a radiant flush. It has sea buckthorn berry oil and vitamin E, both of which provide hydration and helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Everyday by Frank Body Hydrating Body Lotion, $15.99.

You can bet I was straight down to Priceline the day this was released. In fact, I picked out the whole hydrating Everyday range by Frank Body. This is packed with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and glycerine, all of which are designed to hydrate your skin and as we come out of winter, our scaly bodies need all the help they can get. It’s almost gel-like and leaves your skin silky soft. Not oily or greasy.

Maybelline Instant Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Foundation Makeup, $34.99.

What I love about the Maybelline Instant Perfector range is that it’s an easy all in one product that is great for a subtle glow when used as a primer under your foundation. More importantly, if you just want a “your skin but better” healthy glow this is the holy grail. I reach for this for my weekend looks or when I am going away. It hydrates and is multipurpose without making me look like a disco ball. Worried about your shade? Don’t be. There are a range of shades to choose from and the formula has a lot of stretch meaning it is suitable for multiple skin tones and leaves a soft, diffused finish to your skin.

Makeup Revolution IRL All Day Filter Mattifying Fixing Spray, $16.

Image: Supplied.

Without a doubt this Makeup Revolution IRL All Day Filter is the number one makeup spray I recommend to people and even better it costs a quarter of what a lot of you are paying. What it is, is slightly pore blurring and literally like a filter in a bottle. Shake VERY well and soak your face with it. Fan down until dry and watch the transformation of your makeup. This long-wearing product really will extend your makeup time. Thank me later.

DermaVeen Extra Hydration Gentle Soap-Free Wash 250ml, $12.99.

I love this wash for extra dry, itchy and sensitive skin so much I have a giant one in the shower at home and a smaller one in the washbag that I take with me when I’m travelling.

That’s because there are people in my house with sensitive skin and allergies, and DermaVeen's Extra Hydration wash manages to be gentle but also leave you feeling super-clean, never stripped or tight. And I love the way it smells. This is one of those products that you buy every time you’re in Priceline whether you’re empty or not because it’s a staple that you never want to run out of.

No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Serum, $54.99.

Look, there’s a bit of me that’s a little grumpy that all of Australia now knows how good No7 skincare is. I grew up in England and this brand was a high-street favourite for good reason - all the No7 products are great. Affordable, thoroughly tested, and unpretentious. Now, here in Australia at Priceline, they have a bit of cult status.

Lift & Luminate is their range for skin over 40, and there’s a whole raft of products in it but this serum is a standout because it does several things at once, and I love that for simplicity and impact. It has a go at your wrinkles (and who doesn’t want that?) and it evens out skin tone, which is pretty much the number one thing you want a mature-skin serum to do, because uneven skin tone becomes a real thing as you get older. And it also firms things up. I’ve been using it in the morning under a moisturiser and it definitely feels like my skin is a little firmer and brighter for it.

It’s a genuine, quality, no-nonsense performer.

Maybelline The Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara Blackest Black, $27.99.

Wearing mascara and lipstick have been two non-negotiables in my routine for as long as I can remember. This Maybelline pick totally opens the eye and as someone who is crap at attempting falsies, this mascara is ace.

Revlon ColorStay Suede Ink Lipstick, $29.95.

If you know me, you’ll know I never leave the house without a red lip on. While I love the red happy pop on my lips, I love it less when I am eating a loaded burger or going in for a pash… so I have recently started to wear Revlon Colour Stay Suede Ink Lipstick in the colour Spit Fire. Better for the burger and better for any face I am kissing or both if the date involves food and a cheeky peck.

Real Techniques New Nudes Nothing But You Face Set Makeup Brushes (Limited Edition), $57.99.

I recently worked with a makeup artist and she spent some time taking me through changing some of my products and using brushes to apply them. I had taken more of a finger-painting approach previously with my base, foundation and under eye coverage – the Real Techniques New Nudes Nothing But You Face Set Makeup Brushes are a game changer for this face!

Epzen Sleep Magnesium Bath Crystals, $15.99.

I love a good soak, it’s such a good way to unwind and reset except when my 14-year-old interrupts the serenity asking, “What’s for dinner?” or that he needs to use the loo. My go-to bath salts are the Epzen Sleep Magnesium Bath Crystals. My nightly bath routine can only be made better if Tom Hardy or Idris Elba were running it for me!

QV Intensive Cream, $27.99.

Image: Supplied.

As a true Capricorn, I do love a routine. I always start the day with a shower and end it with a bath. After both the shower and bath I religiously cover myself in body lotion, and I’ve used QV products since I moved to Australia in ’99. I’m now in my late 40s and noticing my skin is getting dryer, it’s a ‘thing’ as we age, and skin is just one of the things that can dry out, The QV Intensive range, particularly their moisturising Cream, is LUSH.
