Divorce is never easy. It might lead to better outcomes down the track, sure, but the process of splitting a family up?

Never. Easy.

That’s exactly what Texan dad Jason – who sent his ex-wife her favourite flowers and a card shortly after their divorce was finalised – would tell you.

His 17-year-old daughter, Morgan Lynn, shared the crushing exchange on her Twitter account, and be warned: it will hurt your soul a little bit.

“My parents, after 19 years of being married, were going through a divorce,” Morgan told her followers. “It got finalised today and my dad sent my mum her favourite flowers.”

His words?

Always gonna be you

Oh good lord Jesus I’m tearing up right now as I write this.

In subsequent posts, the distraught teenager shared that the flowers were a throwback to a ritual her parents had in happier times.

“He used to send her flowers when she was having a bad day. To know that even after today he still did it breaks my heart,” she wrote, adding: “I have never cried so hard over four simple words.”

Morgan, take it from someone who’s been there: it gets easier. It’s painful, and it sucks so much, but it does get better.

Have you been through a divorce? What was your experience like?
