This year’s opening performance for the American Music Awards was different from the others.
Not only were Pink and Kelly Clarkson performing together for the first time, but their cover of R.E.M.’s hit Everybody Hurts honoured those affected by the shootings, natural disasters and hate-fuelled violence that occurred during the year.
Introducing the two vocal powerhouses, Jamie Foxx said, “this year, perhaps more than any other in recent history… we needed the power of music to help us heal, and here to pay respects to all those affected by the events of the past year, are two of the world’s most powerful voices coming together for the first time.”
LISTEN: Pink summed up every long term relationship, ever. Post continues after audio…
And powerful it most definitely was, with fans tweeting their praise post-performance.
