Today, Mardi Gras day, is a day we celebrate same-sex love.
The love that our Government doesn’t want to recognise legally.
The love that has fought years of discrimination, degradation, and abuse.
The love that shines so brightly, so colourfully and proudly, you can’t help but bathe in its warmth.
We reached out to you – our readers – to show us your same-sex love.
And we’re so very happy that, despite the hurdles our politicians have put in your way, you still celebrated. You still dressed up, danced, giggled, and drank champagne.
We hope the very people standing in your way click through this gallery. We hope they see what we all see: pure, real, deep, BEAUTIFUL love.
Happy Mardi Gras day.
This is love.

Malcolm should just do the right thing and legislate it like Howard. Those on here complaining that the public should have a say are major hypocrites given that they didn't demand a say when Howard altered the marriage Act without our permission.
This whole issue is just embarrassing. Both Labor and Liberal continue to let down Australians. Catch up Australia, we look like backwards bogans still debating this.
No, I think it depends, our Islamic Australians for instance probably feel more comfortable with the status quo.
You seem to be OBSESSED with Islam. I bet if there is a conversation about the best soil to plant tomatoes in you'd find a way to bring up Islam.
Your obsession with bringing islam into everything is creepy and a pathetic tactic to derail conversations.
It's almost like a 21st century version of Godwin's Law
