There are some things in life that are very difficult to understand. Mortgages. Chemical engineering. How to operate an aircraft.
Then there are others that are very easy to understand. Consent is one of those things.
With that in mind, ‘Project Consent’ has launched a powerful video campaign that perfectly encapsulates their mission statement; “Consent is simple. If it’s not yes, it’s no.”
For some, the message about what does and does not constitute consent hasn’t quite penetrated (pun intended).
So ‘Project Consent’ decided to speak in a language that everyone understands: Penises and vaginas.
While the video is almost uncomfortably cute, it’s also undeniably clever.
It is from a series evoking a number of familiar scenarios, that aims to take away the veil of ambiguity that many people use to excuse themselves from the inherent simplicity of consent.
Because consent isn’t complicated.
It’s straightforward.
There’s a penis, and there’s a vagina, and consent for sexual activity between them must be “an established right, not a removable luxury.”
Project Consent is a non-profit campaign that seeks to create a consent-based culture, by challenging current, ingrained values that are damaging.
It doesn’t matter whether she was drunk, whether he was led on, or whether they’re friends. What matters is the presence of yes and the absence of no.
The overarching aim of this video, and ‘Project Consent’ more generally, is to ensure that we all get to live in an environment free from the dangers of with rape-culture.
We’re willing to look directly at that overly-affectionate penis, if it means we all learn such an important lesson.

shouldn't there be one of an anus and a penis, perhaps it should be sent to the Vatican for compulsive viewing by priests...
too bad it's not true .... I've had women tell me later that when they said No they still wanted me to keep trying ... you can't bloody win
