This is what happened when we tried to give strangers free tampons.

Today, April 28, is international Pay It Forward Day.

The term might ring a bell, especially if you’ve seen the surprisingly traumatic Hayley Joel Osment movie by the same name.

It’s a movement that encourages everyone around the world to complete a random act of kindness, whether it’s buying a stranger a coffee or calling someone you’ve lost touch with, in the hope they too will go on to complete an act of kindness for someone else.

And so on and so forth until the world is sunshine, rainbows and unicorns. Well, at least a little bit of a better place. And we’re on board with that.

Here at Mamamia we thought about buying coffees to pay tings forward but decided a better way to brighten someone’s day was to cover the cost of an frustratingly necessary product.

Tampons.

Tampons for everyone.

Some people were stoked, some people were scared. But almost everyone agreed they would be performing a small act of kindness in honour of the day.

Special thanks to Libra who kindly donated the tampons to pay it forward.

What will you be doing to pay it forward this year?
