Proof that kids don't need electricity or wifi to have fun.

As soon as I watched the replay from the Banana Boat ‘Fun in the Sun’ family challenge day, I asked myself: when was the last time I hurtled down a Flying Fox? Or did anything like this adventure course – fun, spontaneous, out-of-the-routine type activity? It’s been ages. It’s been too long!

It’s so easy to become a routine-focused Grown Up, trudging through day after day, ticking things off and getting things done and everything having a purpose.

Everything sensible and in it’s place and ready for the next day. But what about fun? What about letting go, connecting with your kids and actually having real fun?

Because the thing is, our kids have so much EXTRA fun when they see us, their parents, having a go.

Kids love nothing more than spending time with us and having fun together. It actually sends them a really positive message, that yes, even us busy, serious adults can put down our devices, stop thinking about work/life/to do lists, turn off the TV, head outdoors and live a little.

So. I’m going to make an effort to get on the boogie board instead of just watching my daughter. Have a go at stand-up paddle boarding, (I am resolved to do that this year!). Try an obstacle or adventure course, or do a fun run, or even climb a tree.

Or be like Alys from Mamamia and squeal “OH MY GOOOOOD!” as she hurtles down a Flying Fox. I’m inspired. Especially while the weather is warm. Really, it’s a shame not to be out there enjoying it.

So why not join the Banana Boat More Fun Outside Challenge so you and your family can get inspired and motivated to get up off the couch and get out into life?

How do you ensure your family get outside?
