We live in a world where getting older is generally something to be feared.

Case in point, this week Kendall and Kylie Jenner revealed that their biggest fear isn’t moving out of home, or establishing a career, but rather, getting old. No, not 90 years old kind of old, we’re talking 20 years old. Sigh.

So in all of this, it’s women like Harriett Thompson who make us excited about racking up several more decades.

Thompson has just become the oldest woman to finish a marathon, completing the San Diego Rock and Roll marathon aged 92 years (and 65 days).

She completed the marathon in seven hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds. Did we mention she’s 92? Needless to say, we’re impressed. Just try not to feel intense joy looking at her smiling run-face.

“I was really tired at one point. Around mile 21, I was going up a hill and it was like a mountain,” Thompson told her hometown newspaper, the Charlotte Observer. (Post continues after gallery.)

“I was thinking, ‘This is sort of crazy at my age’. But then I felt better coming down the hill. And my son Brenny kept feeding me all this wonderful carbohydrates that kept me going.” she said.

“I just don’t think of myself being that unusual,” she said. “I have a lot of people saying what an inspiration I am. That’s nice to hear, good for something at this age.”

This isn't the first time Thompson has finished a marathon, she also completed the race last year, with a time of seven hours, seven minutes and 42 seconds.

Thompson participated in the marathon to raise money for cancer research, a disease she has herself survived.

What a legend.
