As the court of public opinion continues to weigh in on the split of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, more photos have emerged showing what the actress alleges is evidence of domestic abuse.
The photographs, obtained by People, show the 32-year-old with bruising around her eye and a cut to her lip.
According to the magazine, court documents reveal that the injuries depicted correspond with Heard’s allegations about a frightening altercation that occurred late last year.
"There also have been several prior incidents of domestic violence with Johnny," Heard's declaration reads, "in particular there was one severe incident in December 2015 when I truly feared that my life was in danger."
A source told the The New York Post they had rushed to the couple's Los Angeles home after the incident, following a desperate text message from Heard.
“I got to her apartment to find her with a cut and bruised lip, a swollen eye and a chunk of hair missing from the top of her head,” the friend told The New York Post. “This incident really stuck with me because she confided in me that day that she feared for her life after an intoxicated Johnny tried to suffocate her with a pillow.”
Heard filed for divorce from the actor on 23 May after 15 months of marriage, before being granted a temporary restraining order against him amid allegations of sustained physical and emotional abuse.
Of course, Depp's team have denied the allegations. In fact, according to People, court documents show that his divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, has accused Heard of "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."
The revelations come as details of Heard's spending habits are being splashed across headlines. In requesting US$50,000 in temporary spousal support, her legal team revealed that the actress earned US$10,000 per month in 2015, while having US$44,000 in "basic" monthly expenses.
A judge denied the request pending a future hearing, but granted Heard sole access to the couple's home.
