The must-watch movies and TV shows coming to Netflix and Stan in January.

2018 is coming and you know what that means. No, not a ‘new me’, but new movies and TV shows on Netflix and Stan, of course. Because here at Mamamia, we have our priorities straight.

So we have have compiled a list of all the best movies and TV shows that are coming to the two streaming platforms in January.

So without further ado…

Groundhog Day

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

This is a classic movie from 1993, with an incredible 96 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It follows Bill Murray as weatherman Phil, who is stuck in a time warp after being caught in a blizzard which he failed to predict.

Girl Interrupted

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

Based on a true story, Susanna Kaysen, (played by Winona Ryder), agrees to go to a mental institution for young women where she encounters interesting, but sometimes dangerous, people such as Lisa (Angelina Jolie). This film was a favourite of critics, with Jolie winning 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' at the Golden Globes and the Oscars  in 2000 for her part.

Hook

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams and Julia Roberts all play a part in this fantasy film, with Steven Spielberg as the director. A Peter Pan-inspired flick, this film is adored by millions across the world, and was nominated for an Oscar five times in 1992.

The Intouchables

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

This is an uplifting French comedy about a man who becomes a quadriplegic and hires his ex con-man to be his caregiver. A film about friendship and trust, this one will have you laughing non-stop and is also based on a true story.

Will and Grace, Season 9

Launch: Friday, January 5 on Stan.

Riverdale, Season 2

Launch: Thursday, January 18 on Netflix.

The second half of Season 2 is finally airing mid next month. The teen drama, based on the characters of Archie Comics, has had a strong following ever since it premiered in January 2017. Get around it.

Burlesque

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

Burlesque follows Christina Aguilera's character, Ali, as she moves to Los Angeles to for her chance at stardom. Also starring Cher, this film is glamorous and is beloved by so many.

Big Daddy

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

From way back when, this movie features Adam Sandler and Cole Sprouse who make for a hilarious duo as Sonny, Sandler's character, adopts a kid to prove to his ex-girlfriend that he can be responsible. But not all goes to plan...

American Hustle

Launch: Sunday, January 21 on Netflix.

American Hustle has an all-star cast including Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. It's a crime/drama film with an impressive rating of 93 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Suits, Season 6

Launch: Friday, January 26 on Netflix.

Well, Suits has certainly become a household name since Meghan Markle became engaged to Prince Harry. Season six of the popular TV show is about to drop on Netflix and Ms Markle is still in these episodes.

Wolf of Wall Street

Launch: Sunday, January 28 on Netflix.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie, this film has been praised for the brilliant acting from its all-star cast. Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort who makes millions of dollars (mostly through illegal means) before he is 30, this film is must-watch.

The Office (US): Seasons 1- 9

Headlines were splashed across the internet when it was announced every single episode of The Office would drop next month, and for good reason. Filmed as though it is a documentary, this is the perfect show for you to binge until your heart's content this summer.

27 Dresses

Launch: Monday, January 1 on Netflix.

We are in the middle of wedding season right now, and there is no better way to celebrate than with Jane (Katherine Heigl), who is your go-to-gal for all brides needing a bridesmaid. You definitely haven't seen the best version of Bennie and the Jets until you've seen Jane rock it out atop a table bar.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, Season 3
