An arrest warrant has been issued for reality star Nathan Gallagher after he failed to appear at a Sydney court to face domestic violence charges.

Gallagher, who appeared on the show Below Deck Mediterranean , was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but failed to show.

NSW Police said Gallagher is "believed to be offshore".

The 28-year-old was arrested last December over an alleged assault at a unit block in Sydney's Melrose Park.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, a fact sheet issued in court claimed Gallagher and his partner had drunk a bottle of wine on Boxing Day before the alleged argument broke out and Gallagher was said to have turned violent.

Mamamia has chosen not to identify his partner.

The woman tried to flee, but Gallagher allegedly stopped her.

The fact sheet claimed Gallagher attempted to start another argument hours later, but the woman left the home, per the Sydney Morning Herald.

Gallagher was arrested the next day and taken to Gladesville Police Station, where he was charged with the domestic violence offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking without consent and common assault.

Gallagher was granted bail on 28 December at Burwood Local Court. It was the same court he was scheduled to appear in on Tuesday.

The alleged victim still gave evidence, and police prosecutors asked Judge Janine Lacy to convict Gallagher in his absence.

The judge did so, and issued a warrant for his arrest, per Sydney Morning Herald.

"Given the serious nature of the offences, and I note on the record I have been given documentation from immigration compliance operations division that he is currently overseas," Lacy reportedly said.

"The defendant doesn't have any prior criminal history but the offences are very serious, with significant maximum penalties and context of DV committed in the home.

"I record a conviction and issue an [arrest] warrant."

Police have since released a statement "appealing for assistance" to locate Gallagher, along with a photo of the 28-year-old.

"Nathan is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, about 165cm tall, with a medium build," read the statement.

"He is known to frequent the Ermington and Melrose Park areas."

But NSW is not the only jurisdiction 'hunting' for Gallagher after not appearing in court, per Sydney Morning Herald.

The reality star was allegedly accused of assaulting a man in 2022 in his home country of Ireland. Gallagher is said to have failed to show up to court following the 2022 incident, and a bench warrant was issued.

Two years later, in 2024, Gallagher joined the ninth season of Below Deck Mediterranean as a deckhand. He returned for seasons 10 and 11 as a bosun.

Last month, Gallagher shared a lengthy statement with Rolling Stone about the allegations against him. The reality star claimed that public reports represented "only one side of what was an extremely complicated situation".

"I don't believe the public has heard the full story surrounding what happened," Gallagher said, alleging he had "kept the evidence" and would "deal with it through the appropriate channels."

"I'm not claiming I was perfect. I wasn't," he added. "I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions. But I will not accept being portrayed solely through one person's account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it."

Police are appealing for anyone with information related to Gallagher's whereabouts to contact Ryde Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
