Mum furious after daughter is uninvited from friend's birthday party for being unvaccinated.

The choice to vaccinate ourselves and our children is a decision only very, very few people resist. The reality of herd immunity, however, means that a vast majority of people have to be vaccinated in order for the population to be protected. It’s the most vulnerable among us, like newborn babies, the elderly, and people who are too sick to be vaccinated, who are most at risk when people actively choose not to vaccinate.

When planning her daughter’s birthday, one mum was confronted with this dilemma.

In a recent Reddit thread asking doctors to share their experiences of dealing with anti-vaxxers, a mother said she was forced to uninvite a child from her daughter’s birthday party when she discovered the child’s mother had chosen not to vaccinate her.

“After I sent out invites to my kid’s birthday party, I found out one of her friends from dance was unvaccinated,” the mother wrote.

“My daughter’s best friend is in remission from leukaemia and is immunocompromised. An unvaxxed kid could kill her,” she explained.

Fearing her daughter’s best friend could become sick, the mother calmly explained the situation to the child’s mother.

Despite her best efforts to explain the situation politely, the child’s mother did not react well.

“Her mother loses her sh*t and tries to get us kicked out of the dance school they attend,” the mother added.

But when the anti-vax mum tried to get the other mother removed from dance school, her plan backfired dramatically.

“The dance school owner is an older lady and had no idea there were idiots these days that didn’t vax so she implemented a new rule that students had to be up to date and the unvaxxed kid had to find a new dance school,” the mother explained.

“I felt bad for the kid but herd immunity saves lives when it comes to kids fighting cancer.”

Other users on the Reddit thread also shared their experiences of dealing with unvaccinated children and their anti-vax parents.

"While discussing vaccines with a mum one time and bringing up my experience working with the immunocompromised population, she said 'I don't care if someone else's kid has cancer. That's their problem, not mine'," one person wrote.

"That right there is a huge part of the problem: selfishness. I vaccinate my children not only for their own health, but for the health of others."

What do you think? Should the mother have uninvited the unvaccinated child? Let us know in the comments.
