Can we please all admit there’s a right way and a wrong way to send a text message?

The humble text message has come a long way since its inception in 1993.

Kids these days will never know the struggle of trying to get your message across, literally, in 140 characters because each text cost 50 cents and your mum would kill you if you send too many and ran out of credit or got a big bill.

With the inception of iMessage and the universal norm of SMS we’re no longer bound to such crippling letter-counts or exorbitant charges.

But some people take that freedom too damn far.

Please do not do this, it gives me anxiety.

You do not need to send me 37 separate messages to tell me who you saw last night and ask me how I am.

One simple message will do.

Much better.

My phone is already buckling under the weight of endless notifications from Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, Slack and email. What it doesn’t need is a stream of consciousness spread across 22 separate little blue bubbles when all the same content could be condensed into one concise SMS.

Can we all just remember we're not animals and please stop this madness?

Thank you.
