The first photos from Australian actress Miranda Tapsell's wedding to James Colley.

Australian actress Miranda Tapsell has shared the first images from her Christmas wedding to writer James Colley.

The Darwin-born Logie-winning actress posted a wedding photo taken by photographer Amelia J Dowd on Instagram on Friday.

31-year-old Tapsell and Colley, who has written for TV shows such as Gruen and Get Krack!n, married under a rotunda at NSW’s Panorama House on the Bulli Tops Lookout.

The Sapphires and Love Child star wore a custom handmade gown by Australian designer by Weave. The asymmetrical oyster silk gown featured three different types of lace and a sweeping train.

Friends and family shared images from the ceremony and reception on Instagram via the couple’s wedding hashtag #tapsandcolley.

The couple who met through mutual friends, announced their engagement in January this year after Colley proposed in December, 2017.

Tapsell’s breakout role came in 2012 when the actress played Cynthia in The Sapphires alongside Jessica Mauboy and Deborah Mailman. She went on to feature in Love Child, for which she won two Logie Awards, Doctor Doctor and Play School.

In 2015, she used her Logies acceptance speech to urge the Australian TV and film industries to feature more indigenous Australians on TV.

In 2019, we’ll see Tapsell’s return to the big screen in Top End Wedding, a film she wrote, produced and starred in.
