Mindy Kaling has given birth to her first baby.
E! News reports the 38-year-old actress welcomed a baby girl, Katherine Kaling, on December 15.
Fans of Kaling first learned of her pregnancy when news broke in July, with a source telling E! the pregnancy was “an unexpected surprise”.
Kaling has been private about the baby news, save for a single interview with NBC’s Today show in August. At the time, she said she was “really excited” to become a mum.
“I’d like to be the fun mum, I know I’m gonna be the dorky mum,” she added. “So if I can be kind of fun too, I think that would be nice.”
Interestingly, the only other insight fans have gleaned is from Kaling’s co-star in A Wrinkle in Time, Oprah Winfrey.
“My mouth dropped,” Winfrey told People. ”‘What did you just say?’ she said, ‘Oh, Oprah, I don’t think you know. I’m five months pregnant.’ And I said, ‘Whaaat?!’”
“That was it, and we just kept smiling.”
Kaley has kept the identity of her baby’s father private.
