After seeing Miley Cyrus' twerking performance, Donald Trump made a move on her.

Back in August 2013 the world was recovering from a confronting performance by Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards.

In case you don’t remember, there was a lot of twerking and tongue-poking involved. Here’s a helpful visual:

Some people thought it was awesome, other people wished the image could be burned from the memory and some people... didn't really care.

But one such person who "loved" the performance, was US president Donald Trump, who told Miley as much in a phone call the next morning.

In a conversation that we're sure is as unsettling as it sounds, the then 67-year-old real-estate-mogul-turned-reality-star called the pop star, who was 20 years old at the time, to congratulate her on the performance.

Miley has recounted the experience to Vanity Fair magazine in this month's issue.

Cyrus said she was staying at Trump Towers and woke up to a call from the future president.

"I loved it," he apparently said.

Miley gave the anecdote when talking about the 72-year-old politician, whose views she has been vocal about opposing.

"And now he’s our president," she said to the interviewer. "You know, I said I would move away if he became president. We all said a bunch of shit we didn’t mean."

Elsewhere in the piece, the 26-year-old is quoted as talking about how pop culture and politics have converged - "we’ve made a celebrity our fucking president" - and it's part of the reason she finds it important to use her platform to talk about the political causes she believes in, like gun control.
