Thanks to our partner, Medik8

I've been in the beauty industry long enough to know that it can take months to see results from skincare products.

But given it's 2026, I'm still annoyed when I don't wake up a few days after incorporating a new serum into my routine and see no visible difference.  I know how science works, but I also live in the age of instant gratification, where dopamine hits fuel us, and we forget about things when they don't give us that hit, we so desperately chase when consuming.

The serum I'm about to tell you about did actually make my skin look different (and quickly). It wasn't until I realised that when I had a day off from using it, my skin didn't look as luminous, that it really dawned on me.

The serum is the one you've probably seen on your social media feed lately because it's got everyone talking. The new Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum. But before I tell you about the results, I'm going to tell you some of the science because it's worth nerding out over, promise.

What is PDRN?

It's an impossibly unsexy word, but an important one for today's lesson.

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide (POL-ee-DEE-ox-ee-RYE-boh-NEW-klee-oh-tide), a very buzzy ingredient actually extracted from salmon DNA. It's known for its support of the skin's collagen production and elasticity, making it a popular choice for targeting our tired and dull-looking skin.

K-beauty treatments are all over this ingredient, of course — they always seem to know what we're doing with our skin next!

While PDRN molecules are far too big as they are to be absorbed by the skin (our skin just repels it like when you try and push two magnets together), that makes traditional PDRN ineffective topically. Which brings us to:

What to know about the Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum, $160.

The clever team at Medik8 (90 per cent whom are women. STEM queens!) figured out how to design a PDRN topical product specifically to support a brighter, more radiant-looking complexion.

I went to France — I will be flexing about this forever — and visited the lab where the magic happens, where I met the lead scientist behind Prismatic+, a whole new dang molecule.

The Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum's results include:

  • 7 days to visibly improved luminosity

  • 7 days to skin appearing plumper-looking

  • 7 days to visibly improved skin tone

  • 14 days to visibly improved appearance of fine lines

  • 14 days to skin appearing firmer-looking

(See more on the brand's study findings! It was via an independent clinical study of the serum on 60 volunteers over one week.)

My personal review of the Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum.

Science and facts are all well and good, but you obviously want my thoughts… right? I was lucky enough to receive a sample of the product in January, under strict instructions not to start yapping about it until it launched in May — a tremendously long time for someone with no chill.

So at first, I used it casually every few days on some morning or evenings (always after the cleansing step), until I realised there was an obvious difference in my skin when I woke up after using it the night prior, versus when I didn't. I obviously then kicked into gear using it daily, and am now so obsessed with it that when a coworker quite reasonably asked for me to leave it at the office to shoot some content with it, my response was… unimpressed.

Confirming my glow routine was not hindered. Image: Supplied.

When I say I could see the results, I mean: visibly glowier, plumper-looking (hello bounce!), my skin appears smoother, and the texture looks more refined.

So impressed how quickly I saw changes in my skin by day seven (and now several months into using), which feels very rare given the number of serums I put on my face each year that don't quite deliver. My dopamine-hunting brain is super happy with these results.

Another tick-box: my husband also asked me the other day what I'd done differently to my skin. (Look, I'd like to say it was all this product, but it could also be a recent byproduct of enjoying so many crêpes in Paris.)

A question we get asked a lot on You Beauty (Australia's biggest beauty podcast, which I happen to host) is, "What is an all-rounder serum that I can use morning and night?"

This one, Youbies. This. One.

We all have finite time and funds, so we want to know what products are worth the investment. The Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Serum is truly a worthy all-rounder for everyday use (and any skin type), and a serum you'll just love using.
