Anyone else viscerally done with their winter wardrobe? OK cool, not just me then.

I am so ready to swap heavy coats and knits for lighter materials, brighter colours, and easy, effortless silhouettes for spring.

And it's a known fact that there's no easier outfit combo than a matching set.

They're a no brainer! An obvious choice! The ultimate 'throw-on-and-go' outfit!

Not only do matching sets make getting dressed a heck of a lot quicker in the morning, but wearing one immediately looks like you've put effort in. Zero styling required.

Oh, and because you can mix and match your tops and bottoms, having an edit of co-ord sets in your wardrobe doubles your outfit options.

Matching sets will always be on trend, but this season, you can expect to see a few new-ish prints and colours hitting the shops any day now.

Stripes in blues, reds and chocolate brown are still going strong. But you'll also see some fresh prints — I have it on good authority checks are the new polka dots — along with feminine lace and embroidery detailing, and bold shades of cobalt, tomato red and even aquamarine.

100 per cent linen and cotton aren't going anywhere. I've seen more textured, lived-in fabrics like 100 per cent ramie options (a semi-sheer, non-stretch fabric), and new top silhouettes as an alternative to the oversized shirt. Think: V-neck sleeveless tunics, ruched blouses and cropped shirts.

One set I've been coveting for months is the DISSH Kai Cornflower Ramie Short, $119.99, and Long Sleeve Shirt, $179.99.

I'd wear it worn open layered over a knit tank, half-tucked into the short with a cropped singlet underneath, or on its own thrown over bathers once it's warm enough to swim.

$300 is an investment, though. Naturally, you'll find budget-friendly versions of just about any matching set style, like the Kmart 'dupe' version that popped up in my feed overnight. At the time of publishing, you'll find the berry choc and baby blue colourways online, with the butter yellow dropping ay day now.

They look near-identical, but for $49 vs $300, there are some key differences. Will the more affordable lyocell and nylon set pose more of a fire risk at your next barbecue? It's possible. But on the plus size, the Kmart sheer shorts are fully lined, whereas DISSH's aren't.
