A judge has finally ruled on Madonna's custody dispute over son Rocco.

It seems Madonna’s prayers have been answered. The famous singer has been given permission to bring an end to the legal action over her 15-year-old son with her former husband Guy Ritchie.

Earlier in the year, the case over Rocco’s custody moved from New York to London, where Ritchie lives. Yet Madonna had requested for legal proceedings launched in England to be ended so that the case can be settled in a New York court.

Mr Justice MacDonald ruled on Monday that they could be halted and the case will now return to New York.

“At the root of these proceedings … is a temporary breakdown in trust,” he said in his ruling. “For all the media coverage, comment and analysis, this is a case born out of circumstances that arise for countless separated parents the world over.”

“I renew, one final time, my plea for the parents to seek, and to find, an amicable resolution to the dispute between them,” he went on.

Madonna, who is currently touring Australia, previously gave an emotional tribute to her son during a performance in Auckland, New Zealand.

TMZ reports that the 57-year-old singer ‘broke down’ on stage as she dedicated La Vie en Rose to her 15-year-old boy.

The video footage shows Madge speaking to the audience, “It’s true there is no love stronger than a mother for her son… And if I if I talk about it too much I may cry.”

“I’d like to dedicate this song to him, it’s a love song for a man,” she said before choking up. “I hope he hears this somewhere. I hope he knows how much I miss him.”

Rocco has previously denied a court order to return to his mother for Christmas.

TMZ  reported the ever elusive ‘source’ saying, “[He] was miserable being carted around the world by his mum…Rocco told his dad he couldn’t handle it anymore. He couldn’t take the traveling and the fights.”

The teenager also reportedly told Richie that Madonna treats him, “more like a trophy than a son”.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Madonna told friends she has ‘lost the battle’ after admitting Rocco does not want to live with her and is said to be  ‘utterly bereft’.

“The fact is Madonna has now accepted Rocco isn’t coming home and that his home is now with his dad. Rocco wants to be with his dad but she won’t give up being his mother,” a friend told the publication.

“She won’t stop fighting to try to make sure Rocco is kept safe and has what he needs. She can’t understand why it has come to this. Her world has been shattered,” they added.

Yet it seems today is a good day for the icon.
