ROADTEST: 3 women try L'Oréal’s hyaluronic acid serums to see if they're worth the hype.

Hydrated and happy skin is what every beauty lover dreams of.

I’m sure many of us would fancy (cue collective nods) fresh, plump looking skin, thanks to a regime of products that strike that perfect balance of hydration, smoothing and brightening. And a cheeky reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum is currently the number one selling serum in the world. It's hailed by beauty loyalists as the ultimate serum to get juicy, supple, and youthful-looking skin.

It's been scientifically developed to visibly reduce fine lines and hydrate skin, and contains a blend of 2 forms of pure hyaluronic acid. L'Oréal Paris has also just launched the perfect match to accompany it: the new Revitalift Filler 2.5% Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum. Both serums are validated by dermatologists and can be used both morning and night.

As we age, the natural supply of hyaluronic acid molecules in our skin begins to drop which can lead to a lack of firmness and bounciness in our skin. Given hyaluronic acid holds up to 100 times its weight in water, it is the perfect skincare active to help retain our skin’s moisture for visible hydration and plumping.

We put the two iconic L’Oréal Paris Hyaluronic Acid serums to the test for two weeks, to see if they are really worth the hype.

Here are our honest thoughts.

I am not what you'd call a skinfluencer – I'm guilty in doing a lot of the cardinal sins. I use wipes sometimes to remove my makeup. I will go through diligent phases where I complete a routine for a good stretch. Then, a quick wash in the shower with only water, moisturiser and sunscreen some days.

As I quickly feel myself edging towards 40, I have noticed that my smile lines are starting the process of graduating to “crow's feet”, so knowing the Revitalift Filler 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum could be complemented with an eye serum, I thought sign me up. I need to see what all the fuss is about.

I started my two week trial at the end of a particularly nasty flu. I was dehydrated, I was dry, scaly even. This could not have come at a better time.

So, I began my morning and nightly ritual; cleanse, Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Serum for face, Revitalift Eye Serum for more delicate skin area the eyes (I love that it contains caffeine in it. Yes, even my eyes need caffeine too it would seem.)

The products had a lovely ~spendy~ smell, and once I'd applied them consistently over just the first few days, I was pleasantly surprised at how much moisture they gave me. I have noticed a significant smoothing of my fine lines, particularly around my eyes. People were actually commenting that I was glowing too – instead of tired.

I feel like they've already ticked a checklist of results for me: plumping, hydrating, smoothing my lines and giving me more of a dewy glow. What an acid!

So, were these serums worth the hype? My humble little smile lines and glowing skin think so.

Laura

I love a hyaluronic acid. My skin is on the dry side, so I love anything with hyaluronic acid.

When using the two serums in my routine, I started with the Revitalift Filler 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum for my whole face first. The dropper is really easy to use and the texture of the serum is really lightweight, feeling like almost nothing is gliding on the skin. I apply to damp skin too, which helps the serum soak in quickly with no greasy or oily residue afterwards. What shocked me was how fresh and glowy my skin looked immediately after application.

I then would follow with the Revitalift Eye Serum to my under eye area and brow bone. The applicator may actually be a game-changer for me. The cooling metal roller balls are so refreshing to use, and on those mornings where I’ve woken up with less sleep than I’d like, this has been the wake-up call my under eyes need. It’s like a good night’s sleep in a bottle.

Over the two week trial, I’ve already noticed that my skin is looking smoother and feeling more supple and hydrated. My puffiness has significantly reduced under my eyes and I feel like my skin is just looking so fresh at the moment.

I can definitely see the hype was worth it!

As a dry skin girl, I leap at any chance to try skincare products that have hyaluronic acid in it, and obviously I couldn’t resist trying the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift serums.

As I head for my late 20s, I’ve been focusing more on my under eye skincare. I was very excited but hesitant to try the Revitalift Eye Serum, as I have suffered from milia (tiny white bumps on your skin) in the past with other eye creams.

With any skincare review, I like to start off with the packaging. Not only are these packaged in beautiful, sleek glass but the usability of both of these are really luxe. The Revitalift Filler 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum features a pipette, whilst the Eye Serum features little metal rollerballs for a full-eye contour massage when applying. I love the idea of this as it creates a unique and enjoyable experience using this in your every day routine.

As for the serums themselves, I found them both to be super lightweight. It doesn’t take long for these to absorb into the skin and deliver nourishment and hydration. With the Revitalift Filler 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum, I’d normally use 2-3 drops across my face and neck – if you overdo it, it can leave a sticky feeling so less is more with this product. I definitely noticed a difference in the plumpness of my skin, and it has also improved in the firmness and hydration levels too.

In being prone to milia in the past, I’ve been using this serum for two weeks now and I am pleased to say that this hasn’t caused any milia at all. My under eyes definitely look visibly smoother after trialling the Revitalift Eye Serum. I still usually follow this up with an eye cream for added hydration, and I can honestly say I have loved having these serums as additions to my skincare routine!
