It's called television's night of nights for a reason: the TV WEEK Logie Awards celebrates the very best of what the Australian entertainment industry has to offer.

The 2026 Logie Awards kicked off on Sunday afternoon at The Star Sydney — and The Spill team were there (including me) to speak with the nominees and capture all the magic for our social channels. This year, Samsung Galaxy was the official tech partner powering our red carpet coverage this year, which meant the whole operation lived in the palm of my hand, on the all-new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8.

And honestly, THANK GOODNESS for that.

Here's what happened at the 2026 Logie Awards.

The biggest moments from the Logies red carpet

As always, the Logies red carpet was a fashionable affair — Carrie Bickmore in leopard print, Philippa Northeast in a custom fringed design by Toni Maticevski, Poh Ling Yeow in a plunging black gown, and many more highlights.

Catching up with Australia's biggest and brightest stars is always the most exciting part of the event. I was on hand to film our Head of Entertainment, Laura Brodnik, and our Senior Social Producer, Olivia James.

I won't lie to you guys — while red carpets seem like the most glamorous of affairs, they can quickly turn into a bustling mess with elbows and camera equipment flying. For quick-fire interviews, our team captured content on the Galaxy Z Flip8, and its compact size and massive outer FlexWindow meant we could frame up shots and check our feeds on the fly without even opening the phone (!!!).

With a 50 MP camera and automatic horizon levelling (an underrated elite feature), it captured crisp, steady content right in the middle of said carpet chaos. Nary a pop culture moment missed, and no shaky hands, here.

Spending more than two hours speaking with talent, highlights for us included laughing with the cast of Colin From Accounts and asking the stars to answer ridiculous questions (which they came up with all on their own. Such talents).

And when we wanted a group shot with the talent mid-chaos — no free hands, no spare crew member to hold all the things for us — the Galaxy Z Flip8's Show Palm setting did the heavy lifting. You fold it into Flex Mode, raise an open hand to the camera, and it triggers a timer countdown, hands-free. Incredible. Getting a steady selfie with a Logie nominee while neither of you is touching the phone? A genuine red-carpet flex.

We caught up with Heather Mitchell, who reflected on her close friendship with the late Sam Neill.

"Sam was such a gentle, beautiful person," she told us. "He was kind, always. And I suppose when I think of Sam I just think of goodness, intelligence, wit, and a man who thought deeply about his family, his friends, his work. I have nothing but beautiful thoughts and memories of Sam."

Later in the evening, Heather accepted the award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama on behalf of Sam Neill — for his role as Brett Colby in The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer.

We also spoke with Deborah Mailman ahead of her induction into the Logies Hall Of Fame. The actress told us how grateful she was — and reflected on her first ever Logies for The Secret Life Of Us.

"I enjoyed it. I get a little bit more anxious with every experience and when young Deb was walking her first Logies it was so much fun. No one knew who we were, and it was so much fun, so I always try to remember that," Deborah said.

Robert Irwin became the youngest Logies host of all time

Following a chaotic carpet, there's nothing better than tuning in to the Logies opening monologue.

Robert Irwin was hosting this year's ceremony, but before he could deliver his monologue he had to make sure he showed off his dance moves — learnt on the US version of Dancing With The Stars. Once the dance routine was out of the way, he welcomed Australia to the 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards (and took aim at a handful of celebs).

Outside the zingers, Robert also kept the crowd entertained when he channelled his dad and brought a series of reptiles out into the audience.

From a cute camera-ready lizard, to a python that just wanted to get closer to Amanda Keller, the Australia Zoo gag was a hit with viewers.

Undoubtedly, one of his finest moments as host was when he brought out a special guest to present the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Presenter.

Magda Szubanski appeared in costume as Sharon Strzelecki from Kath & Kim, much to the delight of the crowd — who gave Magda a standing ovation.

Deborah Mailman's brilliant speech

Alongside Andrew Denton and the TV series A Country Practice, the legendary Deborah Mailman was inducted into the Logies Hall Of Fame.

A clip package highlighting her career featured kind words from Cate Blanchett, Miranda Tapsell and so many other stars — but the sweetest part was undoubtedly the feature of Deborah's drama teacher, Miss Murphy.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house as Deborah made her way to the stage.

"I'm overwhelmed with pride to be the first Aboriginal person to receive this honour," Deborah said.

"When I had the dream to be an actor and to go to uni, my parents met my dream with nothing but love and encouragement. This is for them."

"And to everyone watching at home and all who've been with me sharing these stories that I've been part of for over 30 years, thank you for watching," she finished her speech.

Claudia Karvan's significant Homebodies win

Claudia Karvan has been nominated for many Logie awards — and has previously won three — but as she made her way to the stage to accept the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role in Homebodies, it was clear this win was special.

"Wow, I came to my first Logies 25 years ago. I've won a few of these, and without throwing shade on any of my previous wins, this one feels like the most significant and important one," she said. "It's the first trans story at the Logies, low-budget, supported by SBS Digital Originals."

She called Homebodies a "beautiful, genre-defying ghost story, beautifully written, and informed by lived experience."

She dedicated her award to trans youth and their families, signing off: "May all parents of trans kids, and trans kids, feel seen and heard."

Sam Pang's unexpected Gold Logie win

The biggest moment of the night is always the reveal of who won the TV WEEK Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

This year it went to comedian Sam Pang, for his roles on shows including Have You Been Paying Attention, The Front Bar and Sam Pang Tonight.

While he's a fan-favourite, it was widely predicted Robert Irwin might win the prestigious award this year. Sam was suitably overwhelmed by the honour — delivering a speech equal parts earnest and funny.

"I wanted to say it is a big honour. Being here the last three years, I know what we all need. I'm going to keep this very, very short," he joked.

"I'm going to forget some names. If I do forget you, I'm sorry. Also, maybe have a think about how much you actually did. That's important to remember. I'd like to thank my family. They know how important they are to me," he said.

He then spoke about his love for the industry.

"I just wanted to say, I grew up watching television at the feet of my parents — they wouldn't let me on the couch — but when you're watching television in this country, you never think you're going to be on it," he said.

"So it's a wonderful industry, it's a wonderful world full of talented people and amazing programs, as we've all seen tonight, and I just want to say I'm very, very lucky and very, very grateful to be part of it."

There was no one more deserving right now than Sam Pang, the guy who brings laughter to our screens each and every week.

And with his speech, the night officially ended (and the stars made their way out for the iconic after parties).
