In the past few weeks we’ve seen celebrity after celebrity taking to their hair with scissors.

Jessica Alba ‘s done it, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland has done it – even Kim Kardashian has jumped on the short hair bandwagon. But in her signature style, Girls star Lena Dunham has taken the chop one step further.

Dunham debuted her super short pixie cut on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday, immediately getting compliments on her "outstanding new 'do" from the host himself.

And we have to say, we agree.

The chop comes just as Lena's hair was hitting the longest we'd seen it in a while, after a brief period of rainbow green hair.

The reason for the change?

Like all of us, sometimes Dunham just didn't have the time to spend making it look fancy.

In a close up selfie she posted of her new style on Instagram, she said: "Zero prep required for my new 'do by my hair's soulmate @rheannawhite".
