"It's heartbreaking because it's not true." Lauryn Eagle denies illicit drug allegations.

Professional boxer Lauryn Eagle has denied taking illicit drugs and says prescription medications explain why she returned a positive roadside drug test in Sydney this week.

Eagle says she’s heartbroken at suggestions she might be taking illicit drugs and says further tests will clear her name.

She said her doctor had advised prescription medications for narcolepsy and ADHD.

“The allegation of my being on illicit drugs in heartbreaking,” she told Nine Network on Friday from the US following the test on Wednesday.

Eagle said the incident had left her sleepless and worried about her name being smeared.

“It’s heartbreaking because it’s not true, one iota.”

Further lab tests were being carried out and Eagle looked forward to getting the results in three to six weeks.

“It chips away at you little by little. I’m not a weak person, I’m a very strong person. But time and time again things get twisted,” she said.
