Queensland Firebirds legend Laura Geitz is officially a mum, sharing the happy news with her social media followers late last night.

The 29-year-old posted the first adorable photo of her baby boy on Twitter, writing, “We are so blessed to have this little man in our lives!”

Laura and her husband Mark Gilbride welcomed son Barney Ross Gilbride into the world on Saturday.

Barney’s middle name is a touching tribute to Laura’s father, Ross, who passed away in 2013 after he was thrown by a steer.

Laura also shared a close-up image of her newborn son with her followers on Instagram.

The netball star has been documenting her pregnancy on Instagram, sharing regular bump updates and pictures since she announced the news last September.

She kept the news a secret from her Firebirds teammates until after they had won 2016 ANZ Netball Grand Final.

“I was just busting to let it out…and I kept thinking ‘How am I going to get way with this?'” she toldStellarmagazine at the time.

“We are always getting changed together, always wearing crop tops, and I could see my boobs getting bigger. I was just waiting for one of the girls to say, ‘Whoa, what’s going on there?'”.

Congratulations to Laura and Mark on their new arrival!
