Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel's final verdict on the shocking last four words of the show.

Righto, I feel like I shouldn’t have to write this.

BUT.

If you have clicked here, there are going to be SPOILERS.

If you haven’t yet finished the revival of Gilmore Girls and still want to be waiting until the very end to work out what those mysterious last four words are, then stop reading.

I give you 3…2…1… to stop reading.

Time’s up. Let’s get into it.

So, we have two minutes left of the show…

Lorelai married the love of her life, Luke, the night before. Rory and Lorelai are sitting on the stairs of the Stars Hollow gazebo.

In the show, Rory is 32-years-old and so Lorelai is quizzing Rory about finding her own Luke. Finding someone to marry and be her life partner.

By now, we've ruled out that there is going to be a resolution on who that man is unless the last four words were going to be "Mum, I love Jess/Dean/Logan/Paul/X".

But, you know, that would completely contradict the entire show, which is hooked on a strong mother-daughter relationship.

Back to the scene.

Mum and daughter are talking about marriage and love and all that other gooey stuff.

Then, it comes.

The moment we have waited for over the last decade.

"Mum," Rory says.

"Yeah," Lorelai replies.

"I'm pregnant."

Cut. Done. That's the end.

The creator of the show, Amy Sherman-Palladino, has known the words from the very beginning, but few others did.

It was only when Alexis Bledel, the actress who plays Rory, received the script did she find out that was going to be the ending.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 35-year-old revealed her feelings upon reading it.

"I couldn’t have imagined that that would be the conclusion that Amy wanted," she said.

"But then, once I sat with it for a little while, I figured of course -- it's full circle. It's an ending that only Amy could design."

Sherman-Palladino said on the red carpet that the words always made sense and she was happy to weave them into the revival after they were dropped from the season seven.

"Almost never in a career or in life do you ever get to do anything that you want to do, so the fact that we got to do it, the way that we wanted to do it, was like fate," she said.

The reactions of fans are mixed about the ending, with some agreeing that it comes full circle, and others confused about whether this has sparked a new season again.
