Baby joy for couple who lost kids in nanny killing

The New York couple who lost two of their three children in a violent attack by their nanny, has welcomed a new baby boy.

Felix Harrison was was born on Friday 11 October weighing 8 pounds 10 ounces and mum and bub are doing well. Parents Kevin and Marina Krim (pictured above, with their surviving daughter Nessie) shared the happy news of the Facebook page for the Lulu and Leo Fund, set up in honor of their murdered children.

Lulu, 6, and Leo, 2, were found dead in their apartment on October 25, 2012. Ortega was meant to meet Mrs Krim and Nessie at a dance studio with the children but when she failed to turn up, Mrs Krim returned home to look for them. When she walked into the bathroom she saw her deceased children lying in the bath and the nanny who had attempted to commit suicide by slitting her own throat.

The nanny was placed in an induced coma. When she woke she immediately started blaming the murders on others, first claiming that the parents treated her badly and now saying someone else killed the children.

It was a horrific crime that sent chills through every parent in the world and is yet to play out in court. The nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges but was found fit to stand trial in April, despite her legal team trying to claim that she's not mentally well.

The family spent time in California to recover from the loss of their children but has since returned to New York. They have set up the Lulu and Leo Fund to pay for enriching activities such as art and science for underprivileged children.

The family often uses the fund Facebook page to communicate with supporters.

The couple struggled with mixed emotions when they initially announced their baby news:

Supporters were so happy for the couple:

“This is wonderful news! My heart filled with joy and my eyes filled with tears (of joy) the second I read this! I prayed for this for your family ... That it would happen when you were ready,” wrote Maggie Haag of Pennsylvania.

“I was secretly hoping Marina was expecting and you were just waiting for the right time to share this news. I’m so happy for you and your whole family. This baby is being born into a world with people everywhere already in love with him!!! Best wishes!!!!!!"
