Why mums everywhere are wanting to get their hands on this $4 Kmart doll.

For as long as we can remember, children have grown up playing with dolls with unrealistic body standards.

There’s obviously Barbie, whose (traditional) body was so unrealistic she’d have to walk on all fours because her feet would be too small to support her (very low) weight, and Bratz dolls with their enormous heads. In recent years, however, Barbie, among others, have made great strides in increasing the diversity of their toys.

But mums are losing it over a new range of dolls stocked at Australian heaven retail store Kmart – that cost just $4.

The Anko Glamour Dolls are available as both female and male dolls, with different hair and skin colours. They’re wearing stylish but sensible outfits complete with… FLAT SHOES.

Amazing.

A mum shared a photo of the Anko Glamour Dolls to popular Facebook group Kmart Mums Australia praising the dolls for promoting a healthy body image.

"Spotted these ‘Glamour Dolls’ today. Same height as Barbie but twice the width, ie, a normal human size. How good!" she wrote.

Fellow Kmart fans were quick to comment on how great - and "normal" - the dolls looked.

"Realistic dolls! I think they are fantastic," one mum wrote person.

"Love it, they're "normal" looking, actually dressed to cover the body, and not blasted with a shitload of makeup. We need more like this," wrote another.

Other commenters pointed out that Barbie was given a body positive makeover in 2016 with the introduction of three new body types: tall, petite and curvy, as well as seven skin tones, 22 eye colours and 24 hairstyles.

The best-selling doll’s manufacturer Mattel announced the new looks, ending a 56-year-old tradition of Barbie having just one physique: unrealistically perfect.

With Christmas just around the corner, Kmart's Anko dolls $4 price tag is another huge positive pointed out by mums on Facebook. Plus, you can buy a set of five dolls (with female and male dolls) for just $15.

Heck yes, we love a body positive bargain.
