Explosion outside a kindergarten in China leaves seven dead and more than 60 injured.

An explosion outside a kindergarten in China has left seven dead and at least 66 injured, state media claim.

It is not yet known how many children are among the causalities.

According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, the blast occurred around 5 p.m. local time yesterday just outside a kindergarten in Fengxian county in the eastern province of Jiangsu.

The cause of the blast is still unknown.

At the time of the explosion, many mothers and fathers were picking up their little ones from daycare.

Images on social media show women crying and clinging to children in the rubble. There are bloodied bodies and debris strewn across the street.

Two people were killed instantly in the explosion, while another five died from their injuries in hospital, according to reports.

Only last month another kindergarten tragedy in China’s eastern Shandong province saw 11 children die after a bus packed with pupils burst into flames.
