"I felt like I was five years old": Kesha on her viral awkward moment with Jerry Seinfeld.

Singer Kesha says she felt “about five years old” when rejected by Jerry Seinfeld for a hug in a video that has since gone viral.

In an interview with SiriusXM’s Hits 1 in Hollywood, the 30-year-old said she was a little “hug-traumatised” after the comedian rejected her not once, not twice but three times last month.

Attending the red carpet for the National Night of Laughter and Song event in June, 53-year-old Seinfeld was being interviewed by a journalist when Kesha approached him, interrupted the interview and said, “I’m Kesha, I love you so much!”

Caught off guard, Seinfeld hesitantly replied, “Oh, thanks.”

“Can I give you a hug?” she asked, with outstretched arms, to which Seinfeld said “no thanks”.

She went on to ask twice more, to which she received the same response twice more, and within seconds, the duo had engaged in a conversation that was all over the internet.

Talking to SiriusXM, Kesha explains she is a huge fan of the show, having "seen every episode a thousand times".

“I was instantly like, ‘Oh, f**k me.’ I, like, somehow ended up in my own mini-episode of Seinfeld for like five seconds.

“He’s just not a huggy guy, that’s fine,” she said. “But as soon as he didn’t hug me, I was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be everywhere.’”

The singer added for a moment, the exchange made her question whether she should always be hugging every person she ever meets.

“I had a moment where I was thinking to myself, ‘Wow, maybe I should stop trying to hug everyone and attack them,’ and then I was like, ‘F**k that, no. I like hugging. Hugging is magical. Hugging is beautiful,’” she said.
