We love a little bit of baby news on a Sunday morning.

So without further ado….

American Idol star Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she gave birth to a baby girl last Thursday.

Making the announcement via Twitter, the singer said  she and her husband Brandon Blackstock were on cloud 9 after the delivery.

Kelly tweeted:

If the name sounds familiar, you’re onto something. River is the same name Megan Gale and her partner Shaun gave their little boy when he was born last month.

It’s the first child for Clarkson, who has  never been shy about her desires for a big family. Brandon has two children from a previous relationship.

“We already have two kids and they’re so great. And I never wanted kids before, but now I want, like five.” Clarkson revealed to chat show host Jay Leno last year.

Looks like she’s well on her way to her goal.
