Last week, an unusually-worded statement informed us Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom had split after a year of dating.

In the days since, there’s been a lot of speculation about what caused the celebrity power couple to breakup, with tabloid magazines jumping to all sorts of conclusions. One website even ran photos of Orlando looking cosy with a Katy look-alike at a pre-Oscars party.

The 32-year-old set the record straight on Friday, tweeting:

Katy and Orlando’s breakup announcement pre-empted the speculation and public interest that was to come.

“Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” their reps told Us Weekly in a statement on February 28.

Since the break up, Katy has revealed a new platinum blonde pixie cut.

She posted an video of her new crop on Instagram with the caption: “I wasn’t ready until now”.
