For more than six months, the details around how Jules Neale's marriage to AFL golden boy and former Brisbane Lions captain Lachie Neale broke down existed everywhere except in her own words.

There were a couple of cryptic posts. There were strategic unfollows. And eagle-eyed followers clocked it almost immediately. Rumours spread of a cheating scandal between Lachie and Jules' best-friend, Tess Crosley.

At the time, Tess was married to her now ex-husband Ben Crosley, and the two couples were good friends and nearly-neighbours. Tess and Jules had even hosted a podcast together for a time.

Jules and Lachie were teen sweethearts, married since 2018, with two kids between them. Their life, from the outside at least, looked perfect. It was far from it.

Now, she's telling her side of the story.

Not one affair. Multiple.

During an interview with Adelle Petropoulos, on the Pretty Sure podcast, Jules alleged that Lachie had multiple affairs before his fling with Tess.

"It wasn't the first time for us, which is awful," she told Petropoulos, who called off her own wedding last year after discovering her fiancé's infidelity.

"I found out he had cheated on me before. I got one of those 'hey Girlie' DMs with receipts. Awful. The worst day of my life. I didn't leave bed for four days."

She resolved to stay and rebuild the marriage.

But then she caught wind of the affair between Lachie and her former best friend.

Jules learnt about the infidelity through a phone call from a close friend at the footy club.

The friend had first been contacted by another club partner, who said she had seen and knew of the affair but did not want to be the one to tell Jules.

She told Jules' friend, "I don't want to have to call Jules and tell her. Can you do it? It would be better coming from you."

"So my poor friend had to call me and tell me," Jules recalled.

It was then Jules realised that infidelity wouldn't be a "one-off" in their marriage and decided to leave.

"I was like 'I'm done'," she said. "It was just immediately apparent that this was going to continue."

However, Jules said she only discovered the full extent of the affair after returning to Perth.

"I guess it was an ongoing, four-month affair with my best friend, behind my back," she said. "I was told it was a kiss and that's all it was."

The discovery was the "worst feeling in the world" and left her questioning everything.

"The worst part of it is not even the cheating, It's the lying after the lie. You question your whole reality after that," she said.

"You're like, who knows about this? Am I the only person that doesn't know? Does everybody else know, and did the other players know? Did the other partners know?" she continued.

"You kind of question your trust with everything and everyone at that point. It's not a good feeling. But after talking to the other partners at the club, they all seemed very shocked, so I don't think it was a known thing among them all, which is good because that would have been more salt in the wound to know everyone knew before you."

Since then, Jules claimed that more people have "come out of the woodwork" telling her Lachie was unfaithful.

Jules used the interview to put to bed a persistent theory that they had an open relationship.

"It was definitely not an open relationship and definitely not swinging," she said. "If I were swinging, I wouldn't have packed up my life and packed up the kids."

While Jules and Lachie are separated, they have not officially confirmed their divorce.

How we got here.

For anyone catching up, Jules and Lachie met when he was a rookie at Fremantle. After his trade to the Lions, the pair welcomed daughter Piper in 2021 and son Freddie in late 2024.

Tess, an influencer, entrepreneur, and former Mormon missionary, was so woven into their lives they were practically neighbours, living just three minutes from one another.

Jules and Tess even co-hosted a podcast together about their life in the AFL spotlight for a time.

Then, late last year, photos of the two families together began vanishing from both women's feeds.

In December, Jules moved out of their home and relocated to Perth to be near family.

Rather than retreating from public view, she posted an Instagram story that declared she was not "working through" anything, that she'd been betrayed, and that her focus now was healing and her children.

Neale told Petropoulos she decided to speak up because she didn't like how the media was framing their separation.

"I didn't like how it sounded in the media that we were working through a marital issue," she said. "It sounded like we were having a fight, and we were going to work through it. That was definitely not what was happening at all."

It landed before Lachie had said a word publicly. He was left playing catch-up, eventually confirming the split himself and stepping down as co-captain.

Jules, by that point, had already set the terms.

Then, in January, Jules took the first steps to signal she was officially moving on.

She listed their $2.43 million Brisbane home and announced a major career move. She signed with talent agency One Daydream, who described her as "strong presence across beauty, fashion, and lifestyle," with a "polished yet effortless" aesthetic.

What comes next.

The story isn't finished.

Tess is set to give her own account in a seperate podcast episode, dropping Thursday.

Whatever her version adds, Jules has already done something worth noting in its own right.

After almost a year of other people holding pieces of her story, she's finally deciding how she wants to tell it.
