There’s a group of about 4700 people in the United States of America that we feel extremely sorry for.
Although our sympathies extend to all Americans who have to live with Donald Trump as their country’s president, there’s one particular group who have an unfortunate association with the 72-year-old.
Those 4,788 Americans, counted in 2016, share the president’s last name: Trump.
As you can imagine, the inescapable coincidence of having the last name Trump is a source of distress for many of those who don’t agree with the man’s politics and human right’s violations. Particularly for those who find themselves bullied or teased for it.
On Monday Melania Trump invited one such Trump to the White House to attend the State of the Union address her husband is giving on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the White House, Melania extended the invitation to the 11-year-old, among 12 other special guests, because he “has been bullied in school due to his last name”.
Joshua Trump, 11, who has been bullied for his last name is among President Trump’s #SOTU guests. https://t.co/dx7gE5Ykkb

During bad el Nino years, people with El Niño as their name are bullied in the USA. I don't know if it happens here. I can't believe the USA has a monopoly on mean, stupid people, but there is a history of mean, stupid people attacking people on the basis of their name in the USA.
Well, Joshua fell asleep during the SOTU, so I'm not sure he viewed this as the special treat it was supposed to be. Who would have thought an 11yo would be bored out of his skull by an hour long political speech?
