Mamamia's Share Your Space series asks everyday women to share all the juicy, specific details about their homes. How much do you pay in rent? Who do you live with? Where did you get your furniture? It's pulling back the curtain on real estate in Australia, and allowing us to really see how the people around us live.

In this episode of Share Your Space, Mamamia joins Lauren Brant Hall to show us inside her home.

Age: 33

I live with: My husband Barry and our three kids; Miller, Houston and Samson.

Location: We moved from Melbourne to Burleigh Heads in Queensland.

Lifestyle: It's such a holiday vibe where we live. We used to live interstate in Melbourne before we came to work in Burleigh in 2019. We stayed for three months and it just felt like a holiday... every single day. The last two and a half years have been so beautiful. We feel so lucky every day.

Burleigh Heads is pretty chill – as is the majority of the Gold Coast. There are lots of trendy bars and local handcrafted alcohol pop-ups. What I love most is the young, wild and free-spirited children that are just growing up on the beach. It's beautiful.

So, take us inside.

We have four bedrooms and three bathrooms. When we bought our house, it was clear to us it had been used as a holiday home. My goal, straight away, was to create a liveable, homey space for my family.

Lounge Room: The layout of our home is a box and when you enter our house, it instantly leads into the lounge room. It used to be really nice and clean but it's turned into my kid's playroom now!

For the colour scheme, we wanted to incorporate what we love and we try to keep very neutral colours and a minimal palette. We didn't want to give anyone a sensory overload when they walked in.

We love the light wood floorboards we have and we kept the walls a nice, clean white. The furniture complements the house – so it's either white, cream or grey.

Kitchen: My kitchen runs off of the living room and the bottom floor of my house is basically just the two spaces. It's really old school and has a lot of the original features. That meant we wanted to make a lot of changes but we didn't want to disturb the original elements that we fell in love with when we moved in.

To do this, we implemented this really cool trick and I recommend it to a lot of people wanting to DIY their home. The original kitchen had beautiful black marble bench tops. However, it didn't fit our vibe so to lighten the space up, we got a vinyl wrap.

The wrap has herringbone tiles for its design and you cannot tell at all that it's vinyl. The wrap is heat resistant too and won't cause any damage to the surface – which was our main goal.

Keeping this space clean can be difficult so I am very big on handing off the vacuuming to my husband. And we now both love the Wertheim Evolution MAX Stick Vacuum so much.

I love the combination power head that works on carpets, bathroom tiles and even wooden floors. I have three crazy boys so I need something that works harder and faster than me to get the job done.

Master Bedroom:

I used to need my bedroom to be as neutral as possible. It's my sanctuary, which means we had a king bed with white linen, sheets and covers. Now we've recently jazzed it up with much more pillows and colourful chaos (see the difference below!).

We have Venetian blinds and one of my favourite features is the huge tree stumps that have been reused and made into bedside tables.

Oh – my one-year-old's cot is also in there but out of shot (not that he ever sleeps in it)!

Kid's bedrooms: Everything is scrambled at the moment. When we first moved in, we made these two beautiful bedrooms for our two boys. Then our third child came along and everyone just sort of... shuffled.

Houston's room was baby blue and just absolutely beautiful. We put wood shelving and some wall decals of hot air balloons. It was his own little calming space that was baby friendly. It was a nice little space to be in.

The next room is an over-stimulated one. We got another wall wrap done (which I recommend to everyone). We had some art created to include every single favourite character of our son. So that means all the superheroes, all the Disney characters, YouTube stars, Santa and even the tooth fairy.

When we don't want it anymore, we will be able to peel it off which is great.

Our spare room has just turned into a jungle! It's really hard to clean but thankfully, I have my Wertheim Evolution MAX Stick Vacuum which makes cleaning hard to reach places quick and easy.

It has up to 100 minutes runtime and goes the distance – as someone with a big house and a BIG family, I'm very grateful that I don’t need to change the battery more regularly.

The best part is the suction level of the vacuum head isn't manually controlled by us anymore because there is a dust sensor to navigate all the types of debris and dust that needs to be picked up.

Bathroom: I LOVE our bathrooms but my husband wants to do a full renovation. I think they're so cool and trendy despite being spaces that were built over 20 years ago.

The bathrooms did have a cosmetic renovation but nothing was replaced. The previous owners had spray-painted the blue tiles white, so that's what we have now.

I just love our bathrooms. They're so functional. We fit the whole family – our boys go in the bathtub and my hubby and I are in the shower, at the same time!

Yard: We love this space. It's just a beautiful haven for my family. It was actually really important to us to put up a patio and deck because the original decking was crumbling and old. We had what is called composite decking – it's awesome because it is easy maintenance.

When we replaced our deck, we also re-designed it so it would be long and narrow. It now feels like an extension of the inside.

We basically have a strip of astroturf at the front and a strip of astroturf at the back... Plus a trampoline and toys EVERYWHERE.

Final thoughts: My biggest advice to those who want to reno without breaking the bank is to decide what you can't live without. We knew we needed to change the terracotta tiles to a nice wooden floor, and we worked hard to find the best price. My advice is to shop around before buying something. Find the best deals. Don't accept the first offer.

When we moved into this house, we could tell it was a bit dated. And there have been so many people who have lived here before us and when we moved in, I did everything I could to turn it into a home that suited us. That was my first motivation. Whilst I don't think this is our forever home, we love it here. We feel so lucky. We adore that our boys are growing up in such a place as this.
