A few weeks ago, we shared a video of a family having plaster hands made as a lovely memento. Almost instantly, we were inundated with hundreds and hundred of emails and messages asking where parents could have this done themselves.
While most people won’t be able to get them done (the company are located in Scotland) we’ve found the next best thing. You can make them yourself at home at a fraction of the cost to go to a professional.
While that might sound scary, we promise you don’t even need to be a tiny bit arty. Actually, it’s pretty simple. Before you begin, you will need to go to your local arts and crafts store to pick up the following things.
What you need:
- Impression powder or moulding alginate (to purchase in Australia, click here)
- Casting powder or hard plaster (to purchase in Australia, click here)
- A measuring jug
- A small wooden spoon
- A small knife
Once you have all of those, follow the 13-step guide below to make your own plaster hands.
