Welcome to the Out Loud List.

For the next little while, all your Mamamia Out Loud hosts are going to be sticking a pen in their mouth, poking their tongue out just the tiniest bit and thinking really hard while they fill in this questionnaire about their very favourite things… zero gatekeeping.

First up, Holly Wainwright.

Watch: The best questions to make small talk interesting. Post continues below.

The first thing you touch in the morning is…

My phone. Followed by my dog. Here she is, our Tuna:

The first thing you put on your face in the morning is…

Water. Plain water to wash off the night goo.

And the last thing at night is…

A very thick night cream. Maybe like Go To's Very Luxe Face Cream or Medik8 Advanced Night Restore.

The last show you binge-watched/couldn't wait to drop was…

How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. That Emily Vernem recommended it and it is brilliant. So funny, so original, so stylish. Netflix, friends.

The last film you saw in a movie theatre was…

Project Hail Mary, on the weekend with Brent and the kids. Another Emily Vernem recco. Ryan Gosling can do no wrong, even in space and at two-and-a-half hours long (really, did it need to be??).

Your comfort watch is…

La La Land, one of my favourite 'happy' films (more Ryan Gosling). Or, if things are particularly bad, my favourite rom-com When Harry Met Sally. I know every word and it's like a warm bath. With jokes.

The book you'd give a girlfriend as a gift is…

My favourite novel from the past few years — Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. If you don't like that novel, we probably can't be friends.

The book you pretend you've read but you haven't is…

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I'll get around to it. Sorry, feminist literature goddesses.

The last book you read is…

The Nocturnals by Frances Whiting. It's about to come out and it's just SO GOOD.

The next book on your To Be Read pile is…

Heir Apparent by Rebecca Armitage. I'm interviewing her at the Sydney Writer's Festival in May along with Charlotte McConaghey ( Wild Dark Shore). Their Aussie books have both been chosen for Reese's Book Club, which, you know, I would quite like myself, so maybe I will pick up some tips.

The book you wished you'd written is…

Oh so many. Anything by Anne Tyler, I just think she's wonderful, understated, insightful, quiet.

When you have to bring a plate you bring…

A salad. I make a great Big Salad. Maybe quinoa and tomato and herbs with feta and lemon juice. Yum. Have it with plain yoghurt and salt and chilli.

When you have to cook a Tuesday night dinner you make…

Chicken Noodle soup. I think it started as Nagi recipe? Super easy — poach chicken breast in some stock with ginger and garlic and whatever stuff you have around and then you cook the noodles and some veggies separately and then just strain the stock, shred the chicken and yummmm. I add chilli and black vinegar, because I am a chilli and vinegar person. The kids do not.

Your favourite place to eat out is…

I live on the NSW south coast so down there — any dumpling place with the kids. We go and have dumpling lunch as a family almost every weekend. Kiama Dumplings is great. So is Fatty Dumpling in Nowra. But if it's a posh night out, Brent and I go to either Bangalay in Shoalhaven Heads or South on Albany in Berry.

You always order….

At dumplings — prawn and chive steamed "dumps" and a veggie noodle soup to share. At posh dinner, fish. And some form of potato.

And your signature drink is…

At dumplings, jasmine tea. At posh dinner, a margarita.

If you're exercising you're…

Walking. Every morning. I know, I need to lift my game. Or I jump on my beloved Peloton when I have the time. Am obsessed with Cody Rigsby, he distracts me so much I forgot I'm riding.

And you'd be listening to…

Music, if I'm exercising. I was all about the women early this year — CMAT and Lily Allen were on high rotation. But then I discovered Bad Bunny. And Harry Styles released an album. So now it's more likely to be a Bunny & Styles combo.

Please discover the brilliance of CMAT, here: CMAT - The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station (Official Video).

Your skincare MVP is…

I'm sorry, it's a fancy one — Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. I keep trying to ween myself off it but it's just the best. And Vitamin C — probably Sunday Riley's Vitamin C and Turmeric oil. My face likes an oil.

Your make-up MVP is…

Red lipstick! I have too many to choose from but my Revlon Colorstay crayon is probably the best. And a dewy base — I like my Elias Faas Skin Veil. I am a bit bougie with my face.

The inspo pic you show your hairdresser is….

Carrie Bradshaw (LOL), circa Sex And The City Season 2 and And Just Like That Season 3.

When you're feeling fragile you buy…

See above, red lipstick. Or skincare. Or supplements that I then forget to take.

You feel most like yourself when you're wearing…

Jeans and a nice top. I have the Kireina Freya jeans in about 6 shades of… denim.

Your most constant clothes staple is…

Apart from jeans, shirts. I love a shirt. I've realised that if I buy 'interesting' shirts, I can get away with my jeans every day.

The last thing you added to cart was…

A blue shirt from LMND. It arrived and I realised that blue shirts are not something I'm short of.

You don't leave the house without…

Mascara. Brown, tubing. If you have a free Saturday morning you'll be…

In the garden. Fiddling about in my veggie beds with a big hat, a cup of tea and my airpods in. Singing. The kids will be around, of course, but not tooooooo close.

Your favourite app is…

Instagram. Come on now.

The last person you texted was…

Brent. I said Video of the toilet pls — because we just painted it green. The wall. Not the toilet.

Your busiest group chat is…

None of them are THAT busy because I'm a bit of a lurker, but I have one with writer friends and we message every day when we hit 350 words. That one pops off, we're so rock n roll.

When something significant happens the first person you message is…

Brent. That poor man.

The Out Loud conversation that lives rent-free in your head is…

Silly ones — like Em's outrageous sexism about things Men shouldn't do. And emotional ones, like the one we did with Mia after the Bondi terrorist attack. I cannot believe my job is to talk to these smart, warm, funny women about all of the things in the world.

The best recommendation you've ever given was…

Rivals, of course. I can't wait for Season 2. CANNOT WAIT.
