Hillary Clinton may be planning to run for mayor of New York City.

Rumours abound that Hillary Clinton is ready to come out of the woods and run for mayor of New York City.

And Hillary fans around the world are hoping the rumours are true.

It was during a speech on Friday night at the Society of Irish Women’s 19th Annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner in Scranton, Pennsylvania that Clinton sounded like she might be ready for a come back.

“I am ready to come out of the woods and to shine a light on what’s already happening around kitchen tables at dinners like this to help draw strength to enable everyone to keep going, that’s the spirit of Scranton,” she said.

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton failed in her bid to become President of the United States in 2016, losing to Republican nominee, businessman Donald Trump. Since then everyone has been wondering what she’ll do next.

Clinton began her political career campaigning alongside husband Bill Clinton as he rose through the ranks to eventually become President, making her First Lady from 2001 to 2009. She was then elected to the Senate from New York, serving two terms.

She lost out to Barrack Obama as Democratic candidate for President in 2008 (Obama was elected President and served two terms), instead becoming Secretary of State before winning the chance to run for President again in 2016, only to lose out to Trump.

With such a colourful political history, it’s no wonder everyone is speculating as to what she’ll do next. She doesn’t sound like the retiring type, does she?

Clinton has certainly remained politically active since losing the election, posting this Tweet just weeks ago urging Democrats to “keep fighting”.

The rumours that she may be considering running for mayor of New York City are being circulated by two sources – celebrity entertainment website TMZ and NewsMax, which has a connection to the Clinton family because it is owned by a friend and donor Chris Ruddy.

TMZ claimed a “source” had told them about a supposed discussion gauging support for Hillary if she chose to run for mayor.

They wrote, “A source who was at the gathering last month says Hillary brought up the topic of running and made it clear she was honestly considering it. We’re told she was talking to people in her close circle to gauge the level of interest and support in a Clinton candidacy.”

Other news sources such as Daily News and the New York Times are now picking up on the story so if she wasn’t thinking about it before, she must be now.

The current mayor of NYC is Bill de Blasio, whose term is over at the end of the year and Daily News reports there are no serious contenders at this stage. With the Democratic primary just nine months away, Clinton will need to make a decision soon.

So far her representatives have declined to comment to any news source, so watch this space.
