Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez file for divorce.

Sad news for one of Hollywood’s favourite couples.

Oscar winner Halle Berry and her husband of two years Olivier Martinez have filed for divorce.

The couple, who have one son, two-year-old Maceo-Robert released a joint statement to PEOPLE magazine announcing their separation:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce.”

“We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son.”

“We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”

Martinez and Berry met on the set of Dark Tide in 2010, and married in 2013 when Berry was six months pregnant with their son.

In 2007, after two divorces, Berry told Instyle, “I will never, never get married again” following her divorces from David Justice in the 1990s and Eric Bennet in the early 2000’s.

The 49-year-old also has a seven-year-old daughter Nahla from her relationship with ex boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. Following a bitter custody dispute in 2010, the parents have equal custody of their daughter.
