I cannot imagine what it must be like to be followed by paparazzi while you are just trying to go about your life. Let alone when  you are with your children. It’s happened to me a few times and it’s revolting. Once, after I left Chanel 9 and there was a blaze of publicity around anything that had to do with that place, I was having lunch with a girlfriend and suddenly, we noticed a paparrazi (who, ironically, we had both worked with in his former life as a magazine sub editor) aiming his lens at us from across the street. I had always secretly thought it would be a little bit glamourous to be ‘papped’ but it was actually hideous and upsetting. A photographer friend had a quiet word with him afterwards and fortunately, the photos never appeared. Around that same time, a gossip columnist called me to say she had a photo of me at a cafe with Coco. She sent me the photo and I was confused for a moment because it showed me holding a baby, almost newborn. Coco was one and a half at the time but given that I’d been in the news because of Channel 9, some papp who had taken it over a year ago was trying to flog the shot as having been taken that week. Nice. Fortunately, that one never appeared either. Anyway, here is Julia giving a papp in Mexico a piece of her mind. I want to stand up and applaud….
