Georgie Gardner was gloriously farewelled by the Today show staff this morning, marking the end of her seven years on the show.
Georgie choked back tears (and so did we) as she reflected back on her time on Today, saying it has been a pleasure to get to know Australia.
“To work on the Today show is an extraordinary privilege… and I also want to thank you at home, because you’ve blown me away with your support and encouragement.”
After the team said some sob-worthy things about Georgie, they presented her with a beautiful video of her time on the show.
It’s time to sneak away from your desk and jump to the bathroom so your tears can flow without disruption for the next six minutes and thirty-five seconds.
The Today show announced popular fill-in presenter Sylvia Jeffreys will take Georgie’s place in the team and the elated reporter was just a little bit excited.
“I’m so thrilled… It is quite literally terrifying to be following you, someone who I admire so very much, and respect so very much,” Sylvia said.
“I know that everyone is going to miss you (Georgie)… and I hope I can go some way in filling that void for them.”
What do you think of Georgie’s replacement?
