It’s Friday, time to sit back, unwind and clean up. Clean up ? On a Friday? Could I have lost my mind?

Not at all.  This clean up doesn’t involve a mop, nor a broom – just a look around your home or office at the things lying there gathering dust, the things that you no longer need or use. It’s time to get rid of them.  And maybe replace them with something that you really need. Or want.

We tried this once before at Mamamia and it worked a treat, so given that we are one of the kindest and most supportive online communities we are going to do it again. So if you have something that you no longer need that you think someone else might like, here’s how it works:

– You have to be a Mamamia member (if you haven’t registered you can do that here it is quick and easy. 1 minute max) and make sure you are signed in.

– Please leave a comment with a brief description (maybe attach an image). The only condition is that the item must be free – consider it an act of pay-it-forward karma. It can be anything – clothes, shoes, furniture, appliances, books, whatever.

– If you see a comment with something you’re interested in, click on the person’s username (which will be in blue at the top of their comment) to go to their profile.

– In her profile, you will see an option to private message them. Click “Send Private Message” and this will open up a message in your Mamamia inbox where you can send them a message. This way, you can exchange details such as address and full names without the whole world seeing.

Click “Send Private Message”  to send a message to a user’s inbox!

– If someone sends you a message, you will see it in your messages inbox – go to your own profile, click messages in the toolbar, and it will come up.

– Voila – you may have cleaned up your house but you may have also got that polka dot dress you’ve been dreaming about, or is that just me?
