Comfort food. What do you eat when it's cold outside?

Mmmmm, comfort.

How cold and yucky is it out there today? I’ve been wanting to do a post on comfort food for weeks, ever since my babysitter brought over a homemade chocolate slice and I ate practically the whole thing. It was That Good.

I asked her about the recipe and she told me that her mother and grandmother had made it and for her, it was the taste of her family and her childhood. She makes it when she needs that kind of home comfort.

So I’m going to share her chocolate slice recipe with you and you’re going to tell me about your favourite winter comfort food.

SANDRA’S CHOCOLATE SLICE:

  • 4oz butter  -melted
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 3/4 cup coconut
  • 1 tbs cocoa

(mix together and bake for 20 mins- moderate oven]

TOPPING: Melt 1/2 cup condensed milk and 2 oz butter together in a saucepan. Add 1 cup icing sugar and 1 tbs cocoa. Sprinkle with coconut and put in the fridge to set.

If you make it (you should make it) let me know what you think.

So what do you eat when you need some comfort? What is your winter comfort food? Feel free to upload pics or include recipes……
