There are so many books that I’ve loved all the way through – and then I’ve gotten to the end and been completely crushed by the disappointing ending. What is it about the closing line of a book? When it’s good, it leaves you feeling super satisfied. When it’s bad, it makes you want to hurl the book across the room and then go and tell everyone about how you just wasted several hours of your life.

We’ve already covered the best opening lines from books – now we’re going to look at some iconic closing lines. Stylist.co.uk did a list of the 100 best closing lines from books, and we’ve taken 30 that we loved and put them into a gallery for you to flick through. Read, enjoy and then tell us your favourites.
