Do you ever get the impression that fashion designers are just toying with us? That by trying to design the next big thing they’re actually spamming us? And behind their black-clad facades they’re chuckling away that us plebs have bought into their silly trends?

Because how else do you explain THIS accessory Chanel is trying to make happen?

Yep, your eyes aren’t failing you. That is a bum bag. Make that a designer bum bag.

Stop the fashion world. We want to get off.

SJP what were you thinking? Bizarrely enough, fashion industry players are coming to her defence. InStyle UK said the 49-year-old has just proved that fanny packs can look seriously chic.

Chanel are selling two versions, a leather one, and a huge $1400 fanny back, Karl Lagerfeld’s (head designer at Chanel) also done a version, as has Stella McCartney.

Just. What. Is. Happening?

In the editor’s notes on Karl Lagerfeld’s bum bag the description says: “Stylish and functional, Karl Lagerfeld’s black canvas belt bag is perfect for carrying your cell phone and wallet while keeping yours hands free.”

Stylish? STYLISH? Am I missing something?

There you have it, no one mentioned style or fashion or anything remotely connected to anything not daggy.
