The Project host Carrie Bickmore is going to extreme lengths to make her kid's room dark.

Ah, school holidays. It’s a time when parents can getaway with their children, take a family trip and escape their normal every day lives for just a few weeks.

But with the start of a new school year looming on the horizon, there’s one things parents are fearing about getting used to ‘holiday life’: sleep routines.

The Project host Carrie Bickmore has shared the ingenious idea she’s been using to help make sure everyone stays well-rested before the school bell rings once again.

Did we mention it looks a little…conspiracy theorist?

“The lengths you go to as a parent (or maybe just me) to make your kids room dark when on holidays (sic),” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a snap of a wall of windows covered in aluminium foil.

“Unfortunately I ran out on the last window so we still had 5am wake ups!” she added.

The 36-year-old mother of two also made sure her fans knew she wasn’t up to anything dodgy, adding the hashtag “#notadruglab”.

Her comments were soon filled with other handy tips from fellow parents, suggesting she use everything from black cardboard to contact paper usually reserved for school books instead.

No matter what the technique, we hope Carrie and her kids manage to rest up well before another hectic year of homework, teachers and PSSA starts again.
