These Gogglebox contestants said something very awkward about Carrie's new hair.

When you’re one of Australia’s biggest names, and you go from platinum blonde to deep brunette, you’re bound to cop some negative feedback.

But we’re not sure Carrie Bickmore expected this response when The Project‘s guests, Gogglebox’s Zina and Vivian, were asked exactly what they thought of her new dark locks.

Here’s how it went down.

(Warning: Extreme awkwardness ahead…)

PETER HELLIAR: “If you were Goggleboxing tonight, what would you make of Carrie’s lovely new brunette locks? What would your review be?”

ZINA AND VIVIAN: *Looooooong silence followed by awkward laughter* Um… different. Yeah. It’s definitely different. I don’t know…

At this point, guest panelist Alan Carr did what we were all doing at home.

After an avalanche of awkward half-exchanges ensued, Waleed Aly wrapped things up.

"Alright. Well, there you go. I'm quite not sure where we've ended up with all that."

Eeeeeeeeeek that was awkward.

Carrie debuted her new look on Monday night's episode in collaboration with Garnier.

Before going to air, the mum-of-two gave her Instagram followers a sniff at what she was about to unveil.

"Been up to something exciting with these guys over the weekend for Garnier. Can't wait to show you tonight!" she captioned an image of photographers.

On the show, the Gold Logie alum explained the hair refresh had been a long time coming.

"I've had the same colour hair for 35 years and I was bored and I thought, 'Why not?'" she said. "I'm giving it a whirl!"
