The winter accessory trend Carrie Bickmore created.

We have Carrie Bickmore to thank for this winter’s must-have accessory.

It comes in jet black or soft charcoal grey, is made from a soft knit, and boasts pom-pom detailing not unlike that seen on the Gucci and Fendi runways of 2015.

Since The Project host was first snapped wearing the accessory, it’s been seen on the likes of Lisa Wilkinson, Edwina Bartholomew, Chrissie Swan, Nadia Bartel and her baby son Aston, and even Hamish and Andy. Talk about a trendsetter.

Yet this isn’t some fancy designer one-season wonder with a ridiculous price tag. It’s a humble, cozy and trusty beanie — with a difference.

Not only does this beanie look seriously cute, it’s feel-good as well, raising funds and awareness for brain cancer. It’s for all members of the family too, with sizes catering for babies, kids and adults.

Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer aims to raise one million dollars for research into the disease that kills eight out of 10 sufferers within five years of diagnosis.

The foundation was started last year following Bickmore’s stirring Logies speech in memory of her first husband, Greg Lange, who passed away from the disease in 2010 after a decade-long battle. He was 34 years old.

The beanies were only released last month, but demand has been so high they’ve had to be restocked. (Post continues after gallery.)

This also means the foundation is close to reaching the halfway point of its target.

Ranging from $19.95 for the adorable baby version to $29.95 for the adult double pom pom beanie, the hats are currently available to pre-order with delivery expected late July.

The simpler unisex version is still currently in stock.

Ladies (L) and baby (R).

Super warm, flattering and for a good cause - this is one accessory that will never go out of style.
