Danes are getting it on… and it’s all about saving the future of Denmark.
You see, the Danish birthrate is at a 27-year low, and the population is ageing rapidly. (What a pick-up line!)
How to fix this? An advertising campaign, of course that revolved around holiday sex because 10% of all Danish children are conceived on their parent’s holiday and Danes have 46% more sex while on holiday rather than at home.
‘Do it For Denmark’, encourages Danes to make love in exotic locations for the sake of the country’s future in business and the health of ageing generations. And the amazing outcome is not the weird tan lines.
The campaign is working.
According to research by Denmark’s Politiken newspaper, summer this year will see 1,200 more Danes born compared to last year. In total, some 16,200 babies are expected to be born in the months between June and August. Around 14% more Danish babies will be born this summer compared to last.
Spies Travel, which launched the video campaign, is also running a competition. If you successfully conceive on holiday, you can win three-year’s worth of baby products, plus a child-friendly holiday for down the track.
Danes it seems, are either very patriotic, very competitive… Or simply looking for a reason to have more sex while travelling. Seems like a win-win to me.
