Our hearts can't handle this: The Bush sisters have penned a letter to the Obama sisters.

It’s been eight long years since the the Bush sisters first crossed paths with the Obama sisters on the steps of the White House.

On a cold November day, Barbra and Jenna greeted Malia and Sasha and walked them through the grounds and rooms of their new Washington home.

The two daughters of former US President George W. Bush imparted all they had learned in two terms as first children to the children of Barrack Obama, who were just 7 and 10 at the time.

Now, as the Obamas prepare to vacate the prestigious property in less than a week – and the Trump family gets ready to move in – they’ve written them a beautiful parting note.

“In eight years, you have done so much. Seen so much,” the letter published by Time magazine on Thursday reads.

“We have watched you grow from girls to impressive young women with grace and ease.

“And through it all you had each other. Just like we did.”

The letter also celebrated all the two younger sisters, now 15 and 18, have done over the past almost-decade.

From following their mother, Michelle, to Liberia and Morocco to teach girls about the importance of education, through to laughing at their dad’s jokes as he pardoned a Thanksgiving turkey.

"Now you are about to join another rarified club, one of former First Children—a position you didn’t seek and one with no guidelines. But you have so much to look forward to," the letter continued.

"Enjoy college. As most of the world knows, we did. And you won’t have the weight of the world on your young shoulders anymore. Explore your passions. Learn who you are. Make mistakes—you are allowed to.

"Take all that you have seen, the people you have met, the lessons you have learned, and let that help guide you in making positive change. We have no doubt you will. "

And the letter ends on a gorgeous closing note:

"You have lived through the unbelievable pressure of the White House. You have listened to harsh criticism of your parents by people who had never even met them. You stood by as your precious parents were reduced to headlines. Your parents, who put you first and who not only showed you but gave you the world. As always, they will be rooting for you as you begin your next chapter. And so will we."
