Dr Phil explains why JonBenet Ramsey's brother smiled as he recalled the day she died.

This week, Burke Ramsey, brother of JonBenet Ramsey, gave his first interview ever following the murder of his beauty-queen younger sister 20 years ago.

After the first of the three part series, viewers were disturbed by the man’s demeanour when asked hard questions about who the unsolved crime.

Throughout the difficult interview, Ramsey could be seen smiling in a way that was deemed “creepy” by many who watched on.

Now, Dr. Phil has taken to explain Ramsey's seemingly unusual body language.

“This is anxiety," he said. "He’s socially uncomfortable, I’ve seen it a lot. He’s not autistic. He’s not weird. He’s not creepy."

“He’s just nervous. This is a young man that has grown up in a kind of a siege mentality."

“I’ve spent a lot of time with him over the last several months, you have to understand when this happened he was plucked out because media was all over them."

“Even with the discomfort Burke wanted to do this.”

This defence comes following Ramsey's recollection of the night of his sister's death, stating, “The first thing I remember is my mum bursting in my room, really frantic, saying, ‘Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!’ running around my room — now I know looking for JonBenet."

“The next thing I remember is a police officer coming into my room and shining a flashlight.”
